Victoria United’s midfield maestro, Wilfred Douala Nathan, is on the verge of joining Algerian giants USM Alger on a two-year deal.
According to Foot D’ici et ailleurs, the Cameroon champions have agreed to a permanent transfer for the 18-year-old, with the deal set to be finalized in the coming days.
Nathan, who has been a standout performer in the MTN Elite One, boasts a season’s worth of top-flight experience. He played a pivotal role in Victoria United’s championship-winning campaign and featured in the CAF Champions League preliminaries with OPOPO.
The dynamic midfielder, known for his flair and vision, was called up to the senior Indomitable Lions squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. He also captained the U20 side during the 2024 UNIFFAC tournament, showcasing his leadership qualities on the international stage.
Currently in his second season with Victoria United, Nathan has been in scintillating form, netting two goals in five appearances, including a brace against Astres of Douala. His eye-catching dribbles and incisive passes have made him a fan favorite and a key player in the league.
This transfer compensates for the failed move to Antalyaspor announced in March 2024.
Nathan’s impending move to USM Alger marks a significant step in his burgeoning career, as he looks to make his mark in the Algerian Premier League.
