Upamecamo, Rabiot unfit for Morocco clash

Tuesday, December 12, French outlet L’Equipe is reporting that the lack of match fitness for Les Blues duo Dayot Upamecamo and Adrian Rabiot who have been crucial for the holders during this World Cup.

According to the tabloid both players are battling with illness which could see them miss Wednesday’s semi final game against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

Both players started and lasted the duration during France’s 2-1 win last Sunday’s quarter-final against England, but are a major doubt in the upcoming fixture.

The situation barely 24 hours to the crucial fixture means coach Didier Deschamps will have to depend on other options in the heart of the defense and midfielder when they face Walid Ragragui’s wonder working Atlas Lions at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Youssouf Fofana and Ibrahima Konate could get a rare chance to play on Wednesday night in the absence of the Bayern Munich defender and the Juventus midfielder.

Aurelien Tchouameni also missed training on Monday but resumed on the eve of the game. Whatever happens, this French team will be celebrated for years especially because of how well they have dealt with the setback of major players picking up injuries in the build up and during this tournament.
