- David Pagou’s Stade Renard beat YOSA 1-0 to extend their unbeaten run to four games
- YOSA remains winless so far this season in the MTN Elite One championship
- Renard are leading their pool with ten points from a possible 12 this seasonÂ
Stade Renard of Melong continued their brilliant start to the 2023/24 season this Sunday in match day five of the MTN Elite One championship as Ulrich Ibakeleki scored the lone goal to earn a 1-0 win.
The 22-year-old former PWD and Aigle Royal midfielder at his third club with coach David Pagou made the difference in the contest with his first goal of the season.
Renard approached the game with more intent and purpose having rested midweek. They were unfortunate not to score in the first segment as they created a number of chances but failed to take them.
Winlees YOSA were also guilty of wasteful finishing in the first segment which cost them in the end.
Ulrich Ibakeleki found the breakthrough in the 57th minute, putting the ball past Yindui Mohamed to set Renard on their way to victory.
Though there were chances in the final moments of the game there wasn’t another goal to show for the players’ efforts.
The game ended 1-0, making it three wins in a spin for the first time in the club’s recent stint in the top-flight championship that started in 2017.
Renard under coach David Pagou are unbeaten after four games and occupies the top spot in pool B with ten points to their credit in what is shaping to their best start to any Elite One season ever.
Stade Renard will travel to Yaounde to face APEJES of Mfou in match day five of the championship on November 5.
