  • Bamboutos FC came from behind to hand Dynamo the first defeat of the season
  • Ghanaian Sampson Kwasi scored again to mount the successful comeback

Bamboutos FC of Mbouda reigned supreme in the top clash of match day five of the 2023/24 MTN Elite One championship.

The Mangwa Boys responded to Leonel Christian Ateba’s early opener with goals from Sampson Kwasi and substitute Ndongo to hand Dynamo a first defeat on their return to the top-flight championship.

The first meeting between the clubs in the top-flight championship for over two decades was hyped across the board deservingly so as the clubs sat first and second on the log before kick-off.

Dynamo’s run of three wins and a draw and their home fans at the packed Bepanda Omnisport stadium Annex made them favorites.

Coach Yves Clement Arroga slightly modified his team via the introduction of Ateba and Mohamed Moluh after the pair missed the midweek win against PWD of Bamenda.

Ateba scored within a minute of the start of the game to take his season tally to three goals.

Dynamo took total control of the game, reducing the visitors to spotted breaks through counters that failed to provide the expected end product.

However, there was a way back in the closing moments of the half as Ghanaian forward Kwasi scored the equalizer for the Mangwa Boys to take his season tally to three goals.

Substitute Ndongo, who replaced Kache Boris scored the winner for the visitors in the fourth minute of added time and was sent off.

The game ended on the 2-1 score in favor of the Mangwa Boys, a third win in four games so far which leaves them atop while Dynamo drops to the second spot after their first win of the season.

Bamboutos FC of Mbouda face winless Aigle Royal on November 5 while Dynamo will travel to Yaounde to challenge Canon Yaoundé.
