  • Beşiktaş have picked a point from two games so far
  • Vincent Aboubakar has scored thrice in the two group games of the competition
  • Lugano’s comeback in 11 minutes is one of the greatest in the history of the competition

Vincent Aboubakar scored twice but 10-man Beşiktaş SK surrendered a two-goal lead on Thursday night to lose against Lugano in the UEFA Conference League game which Valentin Rosier saw red.

The Turkish side’s hopes of enhancing their chance of reaching the knockout stages of the competition suffered a major blow as they let their visitors recover to earn three points in a game Eric Bailey scored an own goal.

Vincent Aboubakar put his head behind a low cross from Rachid Ghezzal to give Beşiktaş the lead after half an hour, sending the whole stadium into total celebrations.

He slid home the second after dribbling his way into the box earlier into the second half, before the drama completely changed. When Valentin Rosier was shown a second yellow card amounting to a red with half an hour left Beşiktaş could sense danger.

Ignacio Aliseda pulled one back for Lugano on 81 minutes and then just five minutes later, Shkelqim Vladi’s right footed effort from the centre of the box found the top left corner.

Eric Bailly turned a high cross past his own keeper in the 89th minute to the dismay of the home fans.

The game finished 3-2 in favor of the visitors who recorded their first win this campaign, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
