The head coach of the U23 lions of Cameroon Guy Feutchine, has retained eight home based players, for their double AFCON qualifiers against Gabon.

The U23 lions of Cameroon have been in camp for weeks now at the CAF excellence center in Mbankomo, Yaounde. Last week, coach Guy Feutchine summoned 17 foreign based players to reinforced his squad, as he prepares a team ready to challenge Gabon.

Now, the tactician has trimmed the number of home based players to just seven, who will join the foreign Contingent, in the upcoming games against Gabon.

Amongst the Seven home based players, is PWD’s goalkeeper, Bello Karim. Bello was preselected prior to their previous qualifiers games against Angola, but didn’t make the final list. Now he has the opportunity to finally represent Cameroon at the big stage.

For the Defence, Guy Feutchine has retained Bamboutos’ Franck Atsama, Dragon’s Yannick Noah, and Fauve Azur’s left back Ibrahim Saidou.

Bamboutos’ Benjamin Bieleu, and Fauve Azur’s Arthur Avom, are the two midfielders retained, just like Eding Sports’ Harrison Djonkep and Astres’ Ivan Djantou, who are the two home based forwards to make the final cut.

The U23 lions will face Gabon in Libreville on March 25th, before both sides will clash three days later at the Yaounde Amadou Ahidjo Stadium. The winner of the tie, will qualify for the 2023 U23 AFCON scheduled for Morocco in June this year.
