Besiktas picked up a 4-2 win over Fenerbache in day 26 of the Lig to stay in the top three, thanks to goals from Cenk Tosun who scored a brace, Nathan Redmond and Vincent Aboubakar, a game staged at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.

Aboubakar netted the fourth goal for club at the 91st minutes, from a Nathan Redmond assist. The latter was directly involved in all four goals for Besiktas, recording two assist and a goal after just coming off the bench.

The 31-year-old Cameroon National team captain played full time. He has now scored four goals in eight matches, plus an assist.

A versatile forward who continues to impress both home and abroad where he ply his trade, this is Aboubakar’s fourth goal for Besiktas in the past four games.

Meanwhile, it becomes his fifth goal in a row across all competition, after scoring the late consolatory goal in Cameroon’s 2-1 loss to Namibia in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers last month.

Since his return to Besiktas in January 2023 as replacement for Wout Weghost of Manchester United, Aboubakar has been on the lips of almost every football lover.

Nevertheless, the losers of Sunday’s game are still two points ahead of third place Besiktas on the Lig table, having recorded 17 wins unlike Besiktas who counts 15.
