Diego Younes, Manga Messi, Stephane Ebode scored to drag Renaissance of Ngoumou from the canvas and record a hugely important 3-1 win over Djiko FC that could well secure the club’s Elite 1 status come the end of the season.
Renaissance limped through the majority of the match especially in the first-half and looked set to lose grip of their rivals in the relegation battle, but the trio stepped up for their side in Mbankomo, reducing Isaac Bakinde’s strike to a consolatory goal.
Renaissance recorded a remarkable 3-2 victory over ….. in March but this result will live much longer in the memory of their fans for its huge significance.
The game was truly a game of two halves as in the first segment, there was no spark in midfield, little threat up front and there were also shaky moments at the back.
Yet, it did not matter in the end for the fans and Anicet Koung thanks to the trio, who scored in almost the final 30 minutes of the second segment.
Diego put the host ahead 12 minutes into the second-half, Ebode scored the 11 minutes later before Bakinde pulled one back in the 75th minute.
Ebode took just a minute to restore to teo-goal cushion as they thrilled their fans at the CAF Excellence Center.
The final moments of the game had chances but both keepers especially Vladimir Roche of Renaissance FC denied conceded again.
The game finished 3-1 in favor of Renaissance of Ngoumou, taking their points tally to 18.
Though they remain bottom of Group A, they are level on point with Avion Academy and PWD who occupy relegation related positions too.
Renaissance travel to Douala to face relegation rivals Avion Academy in the next game, in Douala.
