Transfers: Serie A side eye up Joel Matip

Italian Serie A side AS Roma are weighing up the option to sign Joel Matip during this close season transfer window as part of efforts to tighten things at the back for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Reports from multiple Italian sources have it that the club the capital is preparing an offer of €15 Millions ( over 9.9 Billions FCFA) to cause Liverpool transfer the defender to Rome.

Matip, 32, has endured a reduction in his game time this season under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool as indications of the end of his eight-year stay at the club looks increasingly likely.

Joel Matip is reportedly readying himself to leave the club at the end of the season despite having a contract that runs till June 2024.

The 31-year-old has been used 12 times in the Premier League and unsatisfactory number of times in all competitions by Jurgen Klopp this campaign.

According to multiple British sources, the former Cameroon international is looking for a new club as he wants regular playing time.

Matip, joined Liverpool from Schalke 04 in 2016 and has made over 184 appearances and scored ten goals for the club.

During his time so far at Anfield, Matip won one Premier League title, one FA Cups, one Capital 1 Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Champions League among other individual accolades.
