The Gambia edged the Flying Eagles 1-0 to make it to the final of 2023 U-20 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Adama Bojang’s seventh-minute goal settled the contest in favour of the West African side.

He capitalised on a mistake by the Nigerians in their halve to put the ball into the back of the net.

Substitute, Ahmed Abdullahi had the chance to equalise for Nigeria in the 86th minute after he was fouled by the Gambia goalkeeper.

Unfortunately for the player, he hit his spot-kick toward the bar.

The Gambia were reduced to ten players after Harona Njie was sent off in the 89th minute for his second bookable offence.

The Gambia hold on till the end of the game and will face Senegal in the final.

Senegal had earlier defeated Tunisia 3-0.

The final will see two sides yet to concede at the tournament face-off.

Nigeria will settle for a bronze medal match with the Young Carthage Eagles of Tunisia .
