Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have been voted as the Best Women’s Football club in Africa for 2023.
The record South African champions that won its second CAF Champions League this season edged Sporting Casablanca and AS FAR of Morocco to bag the award for the second time.
Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s hit new heights in the past 12 months, winning an unprecedented treble.
The club’s activities on the pitch and off it made it an easy decision for the jury that included ex footballers, journalists, coaches and more.
Upon receiving the trophy, coach Tshabalala thanked his players, the club’s management and their opponents over the period of consideration while calling on CAF to do more for women’s Football.
Sundowns was complemented by Al Ahly SC of Egypt that scooped the men’s award ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns men’s team and 2023 CAF Champions League runners-up Wydad Casablanca.
