Cameroon international Ronald Ngah Wanja was the star of the show as Kuching City FC cruised to a 4-1 away victory over Terengganu in the first leg of the Malaysian Cup quarterfinals, taking a commanding step towards the semi-finals.
Ngah, who has been in sensational form this season, struck twice to dismantle Terengganu’s resistance. His first goal, a calm finish after a slick attacking move, broke the deadlock, while his second showcased his lethal instincts in the box, leaving defenders trailing and the goalkeeper helpless. His performance set the tone for Kuching City, whose attacking play thrived around the Cameroonian forward.
For Ngah, the Malaysian Cup is just the latest chapter in a globe-trotting career. He first stole the spotlight while at Njalla Quan SA in Cameroon, where his finishing ability first caught the eye of scouts. His next steps took him to Cotonsport where he maintained the goal scoring exploits before moves abroad to clubs in Kuwait, featuring for Al-Jahra and then Al-Qadsia, where he adapted to the demands of Middle Eastern football.
A stint at Smouha SC in Egypt further honed his skill, before he moved to Al-Mujazzal and Hajer in Saudi Arabia, proving his ability to thrive in different leagues.
Ngah then turned heads in Jordan, scoring freely for Al-Salt and Al-Faisaly, before short spells at Al-Khor in Qatar and Al-Talaba in Iraq added to his growing reputation as a prolific forward who could adapt anywhere. He later arrived in Malaysia with Kedah Darul Aman, immediately making an impact before joining Kuching City.
This wealth of experience has translated into consistent performance this season, with Ngah already netting as many goals across all competitions. His movement, link-up play, and tactical intelligence have made him a constant threat and a leader on the pitch for Kuching City.
As the team heads into the second leg of the quarterfinals, they carry a three-goal advantage, but much of their optimism rests on Ngah’s shoulders. His brace against Terengganu is a reminder of why Cameroonian forwards continue to make their mark abroad, combining flair, instinct, and experience to decisive effect.
From Njalla Quan SA to Kuching City, Ronald Ngah Wanja’s journey reflects resilience, talent, and a knack for rising to the occasion—qualities that are lighting up the Malaysian Cup this season.
