Rangers FC of Bafut attended a special mass at the Big Mankon Cathedral on Wednesday, praying for a fruitful season, after losing four out of their five elite two games.
“Even with the rain this morning (15/11/2023), we were present at Big Mankon Cathedral for a special Mass Intention. The deadlock has been broken and victory is ours in the next games,” the team wrote on Facebook.
The Bamenda based club is experiencing one of their worst starts since gaining promotion in 2021. The team is yet to win any game, with one draw and four defeats under their belt.
These 2021 National interpool champions started off the season with a goalless tie against Dragon in Bambili and have since then plunged into the path of failure. They lost two nil to Eding and AS FAP and were gaslighted by newly promoted side ISOHSA 0-6 in Limbe. The club managed to get a consolation goal against Panther Sportive, losing by 1-2.
Rangers have conceded twelve goals, netting one. They also hold the record of being one of the few clubs to have already used all three goalkeepers after five playing days.
President Neba George had acquired the services of coach Ngeupkep Sylvanus to lead this team after Jenney Ngeugome saved the side from relegation last season.
However, poor results after three matchdays led to the suspension of coach Sylvanus, with negotiations ongoing with a new gaffer, Charlemagne Mbongo.
It’s uncertain if a contract will be concluded with the new coach before they meet with Djiko on Sunday, November 19.
