African champions, South Africa defeated Tanzania 3-0 away from home in the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers on Friday.
It only took the first ten minutes for the Banyana Banyana to open the scoring thanks to Jermaine Seoposenwe in the third round of the qualifiers.
The goal separated both sides going into the halftime break.
12 minutes into the second half, Desiree Ellis’ side doubled the lead courtesy of Thembi Kgathlana.
Hildah Magaia sealed the win with the third goal in the 86th minute of play.
The Southern African side will take a three-goal lead into the return leg at home on February 27, 2024.
Should they win the tie on aggregate, Cameroon or Nigeria awaits them in the fourth and final round of the qualifiers.
Two African teams will qualify for the women’s football event of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
