Federico Dimarco scored the lone goal of the game barely 15 minutes into the contest. The Italian defender latched onto a Nicolo Barella pass that had looked to have been intended for Edin Dzeko, and finishing coolly past Bianconeri keeper Mattia Perin.
The early goal plus the clean sheet kept at the other end by Onana was enough to ensure that Inter will be playing in the final of this season’s cup competition against either Fiorentina or Cremonese who meet in the other semi-final on Thursday.
Onana has been telling for the Nerrazuri this season; helping the club to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-final for the first time since 2010 when a certain Samuel Eto’o Fils from Cameroon too did same.
Inter will face neighbors AC Milan in the Champions League semi-final early next month while the Coppa Italia final will be played on May 24 and could be an opportunity for Onana to win his first trophy as an Inter Milan player.
