Former Olympic Lions of Cameroon midfielder Nyame Rodrique has been named the West Regional Championship of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) player of the month of March 2023, following his exploits with the ambitious Stade de Bandjoun.

Nyame scooped the award on Wednesday, April 12 during a pre-match event in Bandjoun as Stade were about to kick-off a day 7 game against Espoir FC.

The panel of Coaches, Journalists, FECAFOOT officials and ex-footballers settled for the Nyame at the expense of four other nominees due to his exploits for the month and other aspects which they didn’t divulge.

Nyame scored twice and made two assists in the month, propelled the Bandjoun side to the top of their Pool in the championship during the period under consideration.

Nyame, who totals six goals for Stade Bandjoun becomes the first player to win the award this season, as though the championship started in February, organizers didn’t schedule the compensation event due to what some of termed ‘limited number of matches played’.

The ex-Leopard Sportif of Douala midfield metronome is in his first season at the historic West Region outfit, but has already made himself a major fan attraction.

Stade are hoping to rediscover the good old days and compete again with the best in the country and on the continent as it was in the early 2000s.

If Nyame and his mates keep their current form, then it’s only a matter of time.

The 26-year-old is yet to hit the form that made Rigobert Song invite him to camp with the U23 national team back in 2018, a year after he joined Leopard from Victoria United FC.
