After last weekend’s fans’ troubles in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match between Shooting Stars Sports Club and Ikorodu City FC, Reigns Soccer Agency boss Olawale Onipede has advised the league to heavily ban clubs.
He also opined that fans with records of violence should also be sanctioned.
Violence marred 3SC’s 0-0 draw with Ikorodu City FC in Ibadan last week.
“I am afraid Nigeria league is still passing through the mess and uncalled for seen in the league,” Onipede said.
“Hooliganism of any kind is an eye sore to behold in our football, and it must be condemned in its entirety, but corrupt, biased, and heartless officials may awaken a sleeping lion.”
He also questioned the appointment of Alaba Funmilayo for the match.
“If the Referee Appointment Committee of the NFF cannot be fair in its appointment using Alaba Funmilayo, whose life revolves around Lagos state, but a member of Ogun State Council, could be used to cut down Shooting Stars points, then peace may not return to the league in anytime soon,” He continued.
“No Football will develop in an atmosphere of corruption and broad daylight officiating experienced in Ibadan at Match Day 32 of Nigeria Premier Football League under this umpire.
“No sanction can erase the bruised hearts and animosity tendency when the Referee Appointment Committee is not ready to help grow the league by using their loyal officials to kill the joy of other football fans who probably don’t dance to their tune.

Olawale Onipede
“This is exactly how I cried in the last dispensation on how some referees were used to destroy LMC, and if the NPFL Boss folds his hands to watch this beautiful work he started 2 seasons ago, then there is a tendency for the league to go into comatose.
“It would be recalled that the Ibadan fans won the Best Supporters Club last season and it looked like Alaba Oluwafunmilayo from Ogun State Football Referee Council could use this virtue to latch on and deliver her hatched job.
“The officiating was too blind for the eyes to see waving four penalty calls for Oluyole Warriors and a Clergy nearly turn warlords
“If this menace continues, then the NPFL Board should probably brace up for reprisals as Ikorodu City was reported to trigger the menace against the traveling fans.
“The league management should please watch the clip and sanction whoever that poised to destroy its efforts and its sponsors
“If Ikorodu City wants to use their connection, they can remove 100 points from Shooting Stars and ban them to Maiduguri so that Ikorodu City will win the league ahead of Remo Stars.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
I can boldly say two teams were advised not to leave the dressing rooms until fans were dispersed.
Shooting Stars bus left at 8:55pm while the Oga Boys zoomed off at 9pm.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has convened a disciplinary panel over the 3SC and Ikorodu City FC match.
