A goal each from Raphael Marc Yepende, Franck Atsama, Alex Benjamen and Nasser Njoya for Bamboutos FC of Mbouda against Gazelle FA, gives the Mangwa boys much hope of emerging champion of Cameroon in case the second encounter between Cotonsport and Canon works in their favor.

Bamboutos FC whitewashed new comers, Gazelle of Garoua 4-1 in the last day of play for the MTN Elite one championship playoffs, to edge closer to the title this Sunday, May 21.

Raphael opened scores at the 33rd minute of play, sliding in swiftly from a pass in the box, a ball Marcelin Mbahbi did but see coming as he was lost at goal.

Nine minutes later, defense man, Franck Atsama doubled the lead, taking advantage of an unstable backline to put the Mangwa boys goal goals up before the break.

Coach Clement Arroga brought in Alex Benjamin to begin the second segment of the game and just two minutes after the sound of the whistle, he netted the third for Bamboutos.

The Mangwa boys continue dominance in this encounter, giving Kibyen Patrick Leonel little or no work to do for a while at goal in his debut game of the playoff this season in place of Benjamin Munyan.

Coming into this encounter needing at least four goals to possibly emerge champion of Cameroon, Nasser Njoya understood the assignment and at the 52nd minute, he humiliated Gazelle with the fourth strike to the back of the next.

Gazelle FA of Garoua

Gazelle were hoping to leave this stage of the competition at least as second runner up but unfortunately Bamboutos ridiculed the wasteful Pool B leaders and news comers.

A clear indication that this stage of the competition is meant for men and not for boys, maturity was seen exhibited on the pitch by the reigning Super Cup champions.

Though Bamboutos dominated almost the second half still, substitute Sali Oumarou pulled one back for Gazelle, the lone consolatory goal scored by their team in the playoffs.

Gazelle leaves bottom of the group of four with no point and seven goals conceded in three outings, the most by all clubs involved in the playoffs.
