Morocco have received the batten of command as host of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations to take place in 2025.

The batten was handed to the President of of the Moroccan Royal Federation of Football, Fouzi Lekjaa, by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and Ivorian President Allasane Quattara at the close of the 34th edition in Cote D’Ivoire.

Morocco will be hosting Africa’s flagship event for the second time, 35 years after the North African country staged the competition in 1988.

It should be noted that the Confederation of African Football needed a new host for the 2025 edition after Guinea was stripped of the rights in October last year due to fears about the readiness of facilities.
