Cameron via coach Marc Brys has extended another hand of fellowship to Dina Ebimbe and Hugo Ekitike alongside three others during a recent visit to Frankfort

Hugo and Dina where targeted by Rigobert Song before AFCON 2023 in Cote D’Ivoire but turned it down citing need to improve his club situation

Brys is scouting new talents for the Indomitable Lions so as to give the squad a fresh impetus ahead of future tasks

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Marc Brys and his assistant Joachim Mununga watched potential Cameroon international Hugo Ekitike score as Frankfort defeated Ausburg by 3-1 on Friday evening on match day 30 of the 2023/24 German Bundesliga.

Hugo, plus Dina Ebimbe who provided an assist on the night, the trio of Jean Matteo Bahoba, Noel Futkeu, Jerome Junior Onguene and who were absent from the match day squad formed the reason for the trainer’s coming to Frankfort.

The Belgian tactician who replaced Rigobert Song last month held talks with the players after the game and also spoke with Frankfort’s president, Mathias Beck.

Attempts to rope in Dina and Hugo have been on for some time but the pair didn’t manifest the same interest after he was previously contacted.

For Futkeu and Bahoba, this is the first publicly announced contact while Onguene has not been called up since helping his country beat Algeria 2-1 in Blida to qualify to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Onguene who won the silver medal with Cameroon during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has had to deal with injuries more than play regularly recently, but even before that he endured an inexplicable absence from the national team.

Efforts to secure the services of new and frozen players will continue in the days ahead with meetings planned for the coach in Toulouse, Nantes, Brighton and Manchester.

Coach Brys and his crew inherited a national team in disarray after two turmoiless years under legendary Indomitable Lions defender, Rigobert Song, whose job was rendered harder by the constant interference of president Samuel Eto’o Fils of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT). The onus is on the 61-year-old Belgian to rediscover the hunger, unity and competitive edge that have characterized successful Cameroon teams over the years while keeping the FA boss abay.

Cameroon’s first outings under Brys will be in June against Angola and Cape Verde Island as the 1990 FIFA World Cup quarter-finalists hope to add to their eight finals appearances in the competition via the USA, Canada and Mexico edition.

The Cameroon job is Brys’ first national team opportunity and first on the continue. So far, he has shown glimpses of a great potential with optimist hoping it happens for him as it came off for his compatriot Hugo Broos back in 2017.
