The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are poised and ready for their upcoming match against Cape Verde, 2023 AFCON quarter-finalist.

The exciting clash is set for this Saturday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium at 2pm.

During the pre-match press conference held at the FECAFOOT headquarters on Friday, June 7, 2024, Belgian coach Marc Brys conveyed the team’s preparedness for the encounter.

Marc Brys stated: “With nearly three decades in this profession, the unity and determination of this team are unparalleled. Our concentration is unwavering, and I am confident that we will emerge victorious in tomorrow’s match.”

This match marks Cameroon’s return to the field following their departure from the Africa Cup of Nations last January.

Despite the current tension surrounding Cameroon’s football scene, the team’s sole aim is to bring joy to their compatriots.

Zambo Anguissa remarked: “Our eyes are set on the prize, and our current mission is to triumph in the match and honor our nation. With a commendable coach and a cohesive team, our focus remains steadfast.”

The squad, now 29-strong, has been in training camp for five days, fostering a stronger team spirit. The integration of newcomer Carlos Baleba and the experienced Martin Hongla is anticipated to address any previous shortcomings.

Napoli’s seasoned player, Zambo Anguissa, often seen as a guiding force for his expertise and skill, addressed inquiries regarding the disparity between his club and national team performances.

Zambo Anguissa expressed: “My goal isn’t to be the team’s hero but to consistently give my all. Performance can vary; I’m committed to doing my utmost. Those who know me are aware that I don’t cut corners. I ask for understanding from my fellow Cameroonians for the fluctuations in my performance.”

The press briefing, initially scheduled for 4 PM, commenced thirty minutes behind schedule due to Marc Brys and Zambo Anguissa’s delayed return from practice at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium, a deviation from FECAFOOT’s planned itinerary for the day.
