Cameroon International Kevin Ossol scored a crucial goal in the 85th minute to help FC Nantes beat Albi Marssac TF 4-2 on penalties in the first round of the Coupe de France feminine at the Stade Marcel-Saupin on Sunday.
The forward, who came on as a substitute for Carla Cosme in the 19th minute after the latter received a shock, showed her composure and skill to level the score at 1-1, forcing the game to penalties.
Melodie Carre will then make two crucial saves to see FC Nantes through to the 16th finals of the women’s cup of France.
Albi Marssac TF, who had taken the lead in the 80th minute through a strike from Kim Cezeau, missed two of their spot-kicks .
FC Nantes, who are fourth in Group A of the second division of the French women’s football league, will now face the winner ES Poitiers 3 Cités who won AS Domérat by 2-0, in the 16th Finals, scheduled for December 11.
The 16th edition of the Coupe de France feminine will see the entry of the top division teams, including defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, in the round of 16 in January. The final will be held in May 2023.
