Julian Kamta scored in either half to inspire a 2-1 home win for Astres against Fauve Azur Elite on match day 15 of the MTN Elite One championship this Sunday in Douala.

The Brazilians of Bepanda dominated the contest at home but were made to endure a nervy finale after Junior Kaaba scored in added time to leave it at 2-1 when the final whistle was heard.

Kamta who was Astres’ lead scorer this season going into the game scored his sixth of the campaign nine minutes after kick-off.

That goal was a reward for their early dominance given Nicolas Ntone’s team could have opened scores earlier.

The hosts held their advantage till the break though Fauve Azur came close to scoring twice in the final five minutes of the half.

The second-half started almost in a similar manner like the first as Astres had the best chances.

Kamta doubled Astres advantage in the 74th minute but the Faya Boys pulled one back in added time through Kaaba to make it an interesting finale.

The 2009 deputy champions held their advantage to the finish to register their fifth win in 14 games this season while making it a sixth defeat for Fauve in as many games.

Astres move up to the fourth spot with 20 points like Fauve in fifth but a superior goal difference.

Kamta joins Steve Belobo of YAFOOT as the co-league top scorer with seven goals this season.
