Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe have won the 2022/23 Under-17 League for the Fako Division after beating Aljazeera 4-1 in exciting final.

Coaches Edmund Amaboh and Meh Kum Augustine’s side sealed the title with a commanding victory over the Buea-based in the final on Thursday at the Middle Farms stadium.

ISOHSA went into the clash on the back of a massive win against Best Stars in the semis.

The Limbe based outfit forced Aljazeera to stay in their half in the opening moments of the half and won a penalty after Christian Bouato was brought down in the box.

Nanje Bernard scored the second minutes later. The goal was a genuine reward of the pressing approach from coaches Amaboh whose front three quickly closed down the opposition goalkeeper, causing him to direct a clearance on the front and his toe poke deflected the ball into the net.

Botoua quickly completed his brace in the 26th minutes before Boris Teghu added the fourth.

It could have been five before the interval but Nanje’s attempt came off the wood work.

When Fopa blasted the half-time it was 4-0 in favour of the younger Elephants of Limbe.

Aljazeera pulled one back just after the break, but there wasn’t another goal till the end. Both sides were guilty of missing chances easier to convert.

It ended on the 4-1 score, making ISOHSA U17 champions of Fako for the first time in its eight years of history and its first participation.

The league triumph completes a successful debut campaign for coach Amaboh.

The youngsters have achieved a remarkable level of consistency throughout the league campaign, winning all their games to finish the season unbeaten.

The rock-solid defence conceded less than a goal a game to end the campaign with the best record in the country and we have also proven to be the most potent attacking force in the Fako League, scoring more goals than any other team.

ISOHSA will face the champions of other divisions in a play-off tournament to determine the regional champion.

In a related development, Best Stars Academy beat 8-man Buea United FC 3-1 to win the U15 championship.
