10-man Cotonsport of Garoua dispatched PWD of Bamenda 2-0 on Saturday on match day 19 in the MTN Elite One championship.

Second-half goals from Jean Atangana Komo and Moussa Liman were enough for coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck’s Coton to register their 9th win of the season despite finishing the dramatic contest with ten players following the sending off of substitute full-back Hassana Mamoudou.

Former Cotonsport forward Leonel Ateba missed arguably PWD’s best chance of the game when he hit the post with a 22nd minute penalty as he wrong footed Gabin Allatbatnan but his effort came off the post.

The defending champions made their home advantage count as they dominated they enjoyed more of the possession in the first 45 minutes.

Former UMS of Loum forward Komo scored the opener for the hosts seven minutes into the second segment, benefiting from a silky pass from Patient Wassou Goue.

Coach Roger Constantine Bep’s PWD had chances of their own after conceding but Ateba and co were guilty of missing chances easier to score.

Moussa climbed off the bench to kill the game by scoring Cotonsport’s second in the 93rd minute to condemn Bep to his first defeat and extend Bisseck’s unbeaten run to five.

The win leaves the 17-time champions of Cameroon on the 2nd spot in the log while PWD drops to ninth and just out of the direct relegation zone.

Next weekend will be decisive as all sides enter the final day of the championship with a lot at stake.
