Armed Forces and Police (FAP)  Ladies and Nziko Foundation men’s team are champions of the maiden edition of the Handball Super Cup after their wins in Thursday’s finals at the Ahmadou Ahidjo gymnasium in Yaounde.

The innovation of a super cup game between the league and cup winners is an initiative of the new president of this sports, Abba Oumate who took over offfice few months back.

In the women’s category, FAP endured a tight contest against Nziko Foundation. It finished 30-30 in regulation time but in additional time FAP emerged victorious on a 40-37 score line.

FAP’s team captain expressed satisfaction after leading her girls to be the maiden champions.

“I feel very satisfied. Starting the season with a trophy is a big motivation,“ Anne Michelle Essam.

In the men’s category, Nziko outsmarted the Armed Police Forces in a very tight contest.

Nziko boys staged a comeback to dominate 24-23 and eventually emerged super champions in the male category.

“I feel satisfied since it is our first trophy of the season after coming off victory last season and adding this new victory to our credits,” Christian Wououemoue said after the game.

The Super cup euphoria must be quickly swept aside as the new handball season competition begins on April 8.
