Cameroonian defender Hamidou Hamza has completed a move to Israeli second division side Maccabi Jaffa, signing a two-year contract after leaving MTN Elite One champions Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo.
The highly-rated centre-back departs Cameroon after playing a pivotal role in Colombe’s recent domestic success. During his time with the club, Hamza helped the Sangmélima-based outfit win back-to-back MTN Elite One titles, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s finest defenders.
Before joining Colombe, Hamza featured for Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda, where he began making a name for himself with his composed defending, aerial dominance and leadership qualities.
His individual performances over the past few seasons have also earned widespread recognition. Hamza was named Best Defender in the MTN Elite One on three occasions at the Best Elite Football Awards and was selected in the Team of the Season three times.
The move to Maccabi Jaffa marks the 24-year-old’s first experience outside Cameroon and offers him the opportunity to continue his development in European football.
Hamza leaves Colombe as one of the club’s most successful players in recent history, having won two league titles, the Cameroon Cup and the Cameroon Super Cup during an unforgettable spell with the reigning champions.
The transfer represents another significant export for Cameroonian football, with Hamza hoping to make an immediate impact as Maccabi Jaffa prepares for the 2026/27 season in Israel’s Liga Leumit.
