Marly Confidence Gah, the 15th woman of Guinnessico has attributed her performance in match day 15 against Louves Minproff to the style of play her club Eclair of Sa’a is noted for. The forward scored twice
and was named player of the match as Eclair trounced FAP 4-0 in the top game of the 2022/23 Guinness Super League championship.
Her ambivalence in her midfield position and her repositioning gave room for Gah to shine in the game which brought satisfaction out of her.
“I’m happy to have won this award and to have won the match. We honoured our team. We came to win the game and we did it. I just applied the coach’s advice, play on the possession based approah. This award is for the whole team because at Éclair it’s the team that comes first.”
Gah scored twice in the first half to seal the fate of Bernadette Anong’s girls. Gah’s fighting spirit and ability to reposition herself on the pitch to create goal-scoring opportunities were the key to their success. These assets made them score in the 4th minute, but also to close the match at the very end of the extra time of the first half 45+5 minutes.
An attacking and defensive midfielder, she was able to block the incursions of Louves Ghislaine Larissa Nkou and Adrienne Mekuko in the Éclair camp. Against Louves, she really showed her performance, when she couldn’t impose herself in the opponent’s defence, she made passes for her teammates in order to impact the game but also to turn the ball to find a better angle of shot. This showed that she has a better understanding of the Sa’a Éclair Football Girls’ system.
Gah opened her Guinness Super League goal tally this season on 3 May 2023. In 10 games played, the 22 year old has already scored twice against Louves Minproff.
