The Uganda Women’s top flight division ( FWSL) came to climax on Sunday with Kampala Queens clinching their maiden league trophy in history.
Our correspondent Ambrose Ahimbisibwe selected his best X1 that stood up throughout the 2022/23 season.
1-𝑫𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒚 𝑵𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒓𝒐
In a debut season at Kampala Queens ,the Crested Cranes custodian recorded 9 cleansheets all season.Daisy was named  the best goalkeeper scooping the Golden Glove  on the final day after an impressive season.
2-𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝑵𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒄𝒘𝒂
Arguably one  of the promising best right backs in future. Samalie put up constant displays in the valley warriors defense. The youngster was able  to have enough playing time after the departure of Asia Nakibuka.
3- 𝑲𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑲𝒐𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆
Huge praise for the talented left back who  has been impressive in her debut season at Kawempe. A magician in her number attributed to her crossing style.
4-𝑳𝒖𝒌𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝑵𝒂𝒎𝒖𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒖
A champion with Kampala Queens ,the Crested Cranes defender was hard to break in the backline.Coupled with one of the longest unbeaten run in the league.
5-𝑨𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂 𝑵𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒐
A silent lion on the pitch ,the experienced centre back was a pillar in Kawempe defense. The vocal captain led the youthful side to finish second of champions.
6-𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒓𝒂 𝑴𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒃𝒘𝒂
The best defensive midfielder the league experienced close this season. The stylish midfielder was the engine in Kampala Queens triumph season despite a late injury into the second round.
7-𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒓𝒂 𝑵𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒘𝒂
Deservingly the U-17 Uganda captain won this season’s MVP accolade. Shakira finished as the league’s top scorer on 12 goals and 7 assists to her name.
8-𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒉 𝑵𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒈𝒚𝒂
A key  figure in the Kampala Queens  midfield. The Tint-base scored crucial goals that sealed the  campaign with almost 4 games to end the season.
9-𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒚 𝑵𝒂𝒏𝒛𝒊𝒓𝒊
An improved season after reaching the double figure in terms of goals. The lethal forward was reliable for Kampala Queens side throughout the season.
10-𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑵𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒚𝒂
The Uganda Martyrs captain was flying high this season.11 assists and 7 goals to her saw the Lubaga side finish third in the league.
11-𝑨𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒂𝒕 𝑵𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒘𝒂
What a season for the Cardinals winger.Ashiat Naluggwa carried on the responsibility to lead the team.She managed to score 10 goals after netting only one in the previous season.
