Ita Mbong of Nkambe introduced themselves in style on Sunday in match day one of the new Guinness Super League season.

Usual scorers Afanyu Antoinette and Adelpha Berinyuy scored on their debut in the Guinness Super League as the newcomers stun two-time champions Awa Filles FC on Sunday at the Olembe Annex stadium.

Tiasse Annabel Diane’s goal for Awa ended up not being enough for the hosts as visitors Ita Mbong of coach Shey Ronard Gop outscored their opponents on the day.

Awa Filles fans were hoping for a fresh beginning under new coach Desire Djokam who had mastermind a great pre-season though they were disadvantaged by the absence of some players due to administrative reasons.

Ita Mbong scored their first goal of the competition just four minutes into their time in it. Afanyu became the club’s first goal scorer in the Guinness Super League when she dragged her effort past Fanseu Ndjongang in goal for Awa.

The early goal helped the visitors settle into the game and set the rhythm for Awa Filles who were on the ropes for much of the first quarter hour.

Awa equalized against the run of play in the 21st minute, through Tiasse who took advantage of a moment of less concentration to beat Glory Asonyu Shey on her first Super league start.

The game remained tight as both sides pushed to get their second unsuccessfully till the break.

Awa had the best chances of the first-half and created more but didn’t get to take them.

Adelpha restored the advantage for the visitors after 55 minutes. Yes!! Against the run of play, Shey Blessing and co took the lead for the second time in Yaoundé.

The final 35 minutes of the contest had chances for either clubs, but a combination of poor finishing and good defensive work prevented another goal.

When Referee Amsra Asmaou whistled for full-time the Northwest outfit and its players celebrated their perfect introduction to life in the championship.

Ita Mbong players celebrated with their fans before going to their base in Yaoundé.

The team will return home on Monday to continue preparations for their second game of the season at home to Louves Minprof who lost 0-3 to FC Ebolowa.
