Golfers tentatively numbered at 180 are expected to converge in north central Ilorin from across Nigeria for The Emirate Global Hotel Amateur Open Tournament 2024.
The players are from different golf clubs across the country and would be hosted by the illustrious 18 holes Ilorin Gulf Club.
The open tournament will tee-off on Saturday May 11th, 2024.
The Chairman of Emirate Global Hotels and Suite, Hon. Justice Lambo Akanbi (rtd) will tee-off the tournament.
Jointly briefing newsmen at the Ilorin Golf Club today, Monday May 6th, 2024, the Captain of the Club, Jide Allen and a member of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Barrister Dare Akanbi said that the competition will tee-off by 6.30am on Saturday.
Golfers are however, expected to arrive Ilorin on Friday May 10, 2024, for the cocktail, which is a pre-tournament tradition, and also feel the course, ahead of the hostilities in different categories.
Among the categories are category 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as Veterans and Super Veterans, with all the categories attracting various prizes.
The closing ceremony and presentation of prizes holds same day, in the evening.
Among the top golfers and Veterans that have registered to participate in the tournament are Engr. Lanre Sagaya, who is the Zana of Ilorin, Otunba Olusola Adekanola, Owolabi Olajide and Simon from Makurdi among others.
The annual event was initiated and powered by Emirate Global Hotels and Suite, and is being supported by other partners, as a way of complementing the initiative.
