20-year-old Cameroonian forward Neuzugang Noel Futkeu has secured a big move to German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on a three-year deal from fifth tier side Schwarz-Weiß Essen on the back of a remarkable season.
Futkeu scored 30 golas and provided seven assists this season for the German fifth tier side and became a hot property in the market, but Eintracht succeeded to lure the man who scored over a goal per game in the 2022/23 campaign.
Reacting after penning a deal till June 2026, the former Cologne Reserves man says the decision was an easy one.
“My future was open for a long time. But when Eintracht Frankfurt got involved, I didn’t have to think for a long time. The perspective that the people in charge showed me in the discussions was just great for me. I immediately had the feeling that I could develop better in Frankfurt,” the German Cameroonian said.
“The plan is that I will initially play at U21 level. I would like to take the next steps in my development there. I signed a professional contract, but that doesn’t automatically mean I’m in the Bundesliga team. I have to play in the U21, that’s what matters to me.”
The club also expressed huge optimism about his arrival though he is expected to be a part of the reserves before walking his way into the first team.
“With Noel Futkeu, we managed to convince one of the best strikers in the Oberliga, who was courted by many clubs. In the end, however, he opted for unity and the path we indicated. At 20 years old, he has great potential, in our U21, he gets the ideal platform to develop in the best possible way in the coming years.”
“At the same time, he will help the team with his soccer skills. We are sure that Noel will not only be an asset for us in terms of sport, but also as a person thanks to his bright, positive and confident nature” Alexander Richter, head of the youth academy of Eintracht Frankfurt, said.
Noel will join the club and the rest of his mates before the start of the 2023/24 season.
