Bryan Mbeumo was on target and Carlos Baleba made his Manchester United debut as two Cameroon internationals played starring roles in a dramatic 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
Mbeumo put United ahead in the 73rd minute with a composed finish, cutting inside before firing a low effort into the bottom corner. It was another important contribution from the Cameroon forward, who continues to make his mark in United colours.
For Baleba, the evening marked a major milestone. The Cameroon midfielder came off the bench in the second half to make his Manchester United debut, bringing energy, strength and composure to the middle of the pitch.
The 22-year-old quickly settled into the game and showed glimpses of why United invested heavily in his services. His ability to carry the ball and play forward was particularly noticeable as United looked to protect their lead.
However, the Red Devils were denied all three points in dramatic fashion. Tottenham found a late equaliser in stoppage time, with Dominic Solanke heading home to silence Old Trafford and secure a share of the spoils.
Despite the disappointing ending, it was a memorable night for Cameroon football. Mbeumo scored, Baleba debuted — and two Indomitable Lions shared the Old Trafford spotlight on a big Premier League afternoon.
