Dantake Dorantine believes Caiman Filles of Douala can still survive the drop despite enduring a disastrous season so far

Dorantine arrived in Douala from Vision Sports with a big reputation following her exploits in Bamenda, but the 19-year-old admits it has been a difficult challenge registering just two wins this season.

Caïman Filles are two points above the relegation zone in the 2022/23 Guinness Super League championship halfway into the turbulent campaign, but the player wants her mates to be more determined especially against direct rivals.

“I’d spoken to a number of friends, and they all said I’d do well here and in this club.

“But it has still surprised me. The football’s so intense this season. The Guinness Super League is tougher, and there’s never any let-up,” She revealed.

“Previously I used to go through some games without breaking into a sweat, but here you can’t catch your breath now. “Whether I’m playing in midfield or at the back, I’m up against giants and you take so much physical damage. I come away exhausted, covered in cuts and bruises.”

“Winning just two games is unacceptable, but we are working hard to improve in the second round and I believe with greater commitments we will get over the finish line unhurt. We just need to stay in games and make the most of our chances” Dorantine who has featured in 7 games for Caiman added.

The Douala girls only managed six points from two wins in 11 games so far and face a battle to stay afloat with Ngadeu FFA who currently occupy the second relegation position – the first relegation position confirmed for forfeited Canon Yaounde.

Caïman are struggling like never before, the weight of the division is heavy upon them.

Trips to Awa Ladies, who are just above them and away to Ngadeu FFA plus nine other games will decide their season. Dorantine and co needed to be at their best from next week when the full second half of the season gets underway.
