Wednesday, September 30 – Njoku Barnabas has left his role as deputy trainer of Cameroon Elite 1 championship side, Bamboutos FC of Mbouda with immediate effect, kick442.com can exclusively report.
According to our sources, coach Njoku tabled his resignation to the club hierarchy earlier this week, after which he said goodbye to the players and the rest of the staff.
The former ISOHSA, Victoria United, Tiko United FC gaffer left the team camp in Bagofit after saying goodbye.
He didn’t disclose the reasons behind his decision, but told our crew that reached out for further details that he had opted to step aside for personal reasons.
Njoku, who was the first assistant to Ghanaian trainer, Asare Bediako, before his decision vacates the position, leaving the club with the decision to appoint a replacement.
The onus is on the club to find a fitting replacement for the man who worked with Ina Ngassa, Yves Clement Arroga and Asare. During the 14-month period with Njoku, Bamboutos FC won their first-ever Cameroon Super Cup, plus achieved a runners-up finish in the MTN Elite One championship at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Besides the above-mentioned clubs, coach Njoku has worked at Buea United FC, Maumu Youths FC, Djiko FC among others. He becomes a free agent following his decision.
The former LIFCA coach is back home with his family, while waiting for new opportunities before or after the start of the 2023/24 season scheduled for September 30th.
