Ashu Besong Cyprien picks top job in Djibouti

Cameroon-born English trainer Ashu Besong Cyprien has been appointed head coach of all categories of the youth national teams of Djibouti for an unspecified duration.

This announcement was made on Monday, May 29 and he got to work immediately in the country’s capital.

The 58-year-old native of Manyu will be in charge of the U15 -U21 national teams during various regional and continental competitions.

Coach Ashu was out of work before the latest opportunity but arrives with huge experience, having been coach of Cameroon’s U20 national team that participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2016 in Zambia and South Africa Sudan national team coach for over two years.

He has expressed huge optimism about his new job while starting his plans.

“It’s a good challenge for me and a very exciting project, for us to come in and create a structure that will sustain Djiboutian football in the years ahead and be competitive in the region and Africa. Djibouti is a small and peaceful nation in Africa and the world, with so many skilful players from streets football. Our main goal, will be how to transform these strong football potential into the real results. Starting with the younger age group,” Ashu said in an exclusive conversation with kick442.com.

The Leicester City trained coach is expected to play a key role in restructuring Djibouti football at the various youth categories and give it a more competitive touch.
