AFCON 2023: Daka’s late goal denies Tanzania first AFCON victory

Tanzania will have to wait till another game to get their first ever win at the Africa Cup pf Nations in their third appearance.

Zambia forced Tanzania to a 1-1 draw as both sides continue their quest to make it out of the group stage at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

It was a hard fought 1-0 success over 2012 African champions, Zambia at the Laurent Pokou stadium, San Pedro on Sunday.

With the first chance of the game, Tanzania scored the opener in the 11th minute of play.

Mbwana Samatta provides Simon Msuva with a nice pass inside the box. It allowed him to finish with a precise effort into the top right corner.

In the 31st minute, Fashion Sakala has a great chance to equalise. He climb highest deep in the penalty box and strikes a powerful header toward the net as his effort ends wide of the left post.

The Chipolopolo were reduced tyo ten players in the 44th minute when Rodrick Kabwe received his second yellow card of the match after his bad challenge.

Zambia search for the leveler in the second half despite the numerical disadvantage and their efforts were rewarded lat one.

In the 89th minute, Clatous Chama sent a corner kick into the box and expertly find Patson Daka, who jumps highest and coolly planted a bullet header into the roof of the net.

With the draw, Morocco top Group F with four points, ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo (2 points), Zambia (2 points), and Tanzania (1 point).

The last group game will determine the two teams that will automatically qualify to the knockout stage from the group
