The fourth Vice President of the Confederation of African Football CAF, Seidou Mbombo Njoya has been appointed a Senator in Cameroon by the country’s president Paul Biya.
The appointments are contained in a presidential decree signed this friday by President Biya.
A renowned sports official with close to three decades in sports management, Seidou Mbombo Njoya is a respected and recognized figure in the central African nation.
A former top official of FIFA, Seidou Mbombo Njoya has stamped his footprint across Cameroon’s sports milieu. An astute golfer credited with providing an added impetus to the popular Yaounde Golf Club, Seidou went on to lead Cameroon’s Gof Federation from 2006-2010.
In 2018, he was elected president of Cameroon’s Football Federation, steering the country’s under 17 men’s team to a second continental conquest in 2019 in Tanzania. Njoya’s wealth of experience has been put to effective use at the Confederation of African Football CAF where he’s serving as fourth vice president.
The 61-year old was recently commended by CAF’s president Dr Patrice Motsepe for masterminding the organization of an impressive 2022 Total Energies African Nations Championship, with the Caf supremo describing Mbombo Njoya as a key cog to the success of the tournament.
It is thus a refined sports official who will be heading to Cameroon’s senate to contribute to nation building.
Mbombo Nyoya was appointed honorary president of the Cameroon Golf Federation earlier this month.
