Cameroonian coach Laurent Djam has embarked on a new international adventure after officially signing with AS Port, a top-flight club in Djibouti.
The experienced tactician has put pen to paper with the Association Sportive du Port, ending speculation over his next destination after he was initially linked with a move to Mauritius.
Djam now heads to the Horn of Africa, where he will take charge of a club sponsored by Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port (DMP), one of the major players in Djibouti’s port sector.
The move represents another important step in the coaching career of Djam, who has built a reputation in Cameroon through his work with several domestic clubs and national youth teams.
He previously served as an assistant coach with the Cameroon U23 national team and has also worked with clubs including Aigle Royal du Moungo and Unisport du Haut-Nkam, gaining valuable experience in the highly competitive Cameroonian football environment.
At AS Port, Djam will be expected to bring his tactical discipline and experience to a side looking to establish itself among the leading teams in Djibouti.
His objectives are understood to include building a competitive squad, challenging for honours in the domestic championship and helping AS Port make an impact in regional competitions.
Djam’s appointment adds to the growing list of Cameroonian coaches taking their expertise beyond the country’s borders, further highlighting the reputation of Cameroon’s football coaching tradition across Africa.
For Laurent Djam, the move to Djibouti represents a fresh challenge and an opportunity to write another chapter in an increasingly international coaching career.
