The Union of Central African Football Federations (UNIFFAC) has postponed the 2026 U-16 Tournament, which was scheduled to take place in N’Djamena, Chad, from September 28 to October 4.
In a communiqué issued on September 25, UNIFFAC said the decision was taken in consultation with the participating federations, the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the media and the wider sporting public.
The regional football body said the tournament had been postponed in order to create the best possible conditions for the organisation and successful staging of the competition.
The U-16 tournament was expected to bring together some of Central Africa’s young football talents, with the competition serving as an important platform for the development and identification of players at youth level.
UNIFFAC expressed its appreciation to the Government of the Republic of Chad and the Chad Football Association, as well as the other member associations concerned, for their availability and the preparations already undertaken ahead of the tournament.
The regional body said it would communicate a new schedule for the competition at a later date.
The communiqué was signed in Libreville on September 25, 2026, by UNIFFAC, which said the postponement was made with the aim of ensuring better conditions for the tournament’s eventual success.
