Cameroonian striker Lys Tiwa has paid an emotional tribute to her coaches after bringing the curtain down on another outstanding Guinness Super League season, thanking them for believing in her when few others did.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Tiwa reflected on her journey from Cameroon’s second division in 2024 to becoming one of the country’s most dominant forwards.

Sometimes, all you need is a simple vote of confidence. I had just come from Division Two in 2024, yet these two coaches trusted me by handing me the keys to Lekie’s attack. Thanks to God, I was able to repay that trust on the pitch. Having a staff that believes in you is the best trigger to unlock your potential. Thank you very much to coaches Illiaxu and Stephane Ndzana.”

Her words came shortly after what could be her final appearance in the Guinness Super League, with the forward attracting concrete transfer offers ahead of the new season.

Tiwa signed off in style by captaining Lekie Football Filles to a 3-1 victory over Itambong FC on the final day, scoring twice to take her tally to 19 league goals this season and strengthen her grip on the race for the 2026 Golden Boot.

The performance added another chapter to an extraordinary three-year spell in the top flight.

Across 52 Guinness Super League appearances, Tiwa has scored 46 goals and provided six assists while playing 4,370 minutes. She started 50 matches, came off the bench twice, and was substituted just three times, underlining her importance to Lekie.

Her individual honours further highlight her impact. She was named the league’s Revelation of the Season in 2024, won the Ballon d’Or and Golden Boot in 2025, has been named Guinness Woman of the Match five times, and is currently leading the race for another Golden Boot in 2026.

With statistics that place her among the most prolific players the league has seen, Tiwa’s latest message was less about personal glory and more about gratitude—acknowledging the coaches whose faith helped transform a promising Division Two player into one of the defining stars of Cameroon’s women’s top flight.
