Thirty-one male and female referees and assistant referees from the eight member associations of the Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFFAC) have begun a four-day capacity-building course in Douala, Cameroon, aimed at enhancing the performance of both new and experienced FIFA match officials.

The programme seeks to improve the officials’ physical fitness, technical knowledge and endurance ahead of upcoming CAF and FIFA competitions.

Activities got underway on Tuesday morning with physical endurance tests at the Bepanda Omnisports Stadium before participants moved to the Vallée des Princes Hotel for classroom sessions.

The opening technical session was chaired by UNIFFAC Executive Director Hassan Bala Korei alongside the President of the UNIFFAC Referees Commission, René Daniel Louzaya. The workshop is also being supervised by refereeing instructors Evehe Divine, Jean Gaoussoumou, Brice Letokouzou, Geneviève Lukusa Kajinga and Sandza Meya Louise.

Cameroon is represented by FIFA referees Yannick Fodouop and Ntui Ayuk Priscilla, assistant referees Mpande Mpou Gerard Dimitri and Yeppe Rebecca Prisca, as well as refereeing instructors Evehe Divine and Jean Gaoussoumou.

Officials from Chad, Congo, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Central African Republic and São Tomé and Príncipe are also taking part in the course.

The four-day programme combines physical assessments with technical and classroom sessions designed to ensure referees and assistant referees are better prepared to meet the demands of continental and international competitions.
