The new FECAFOOT headquarters in Yaoundé, located in the Warda neighborhood, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, May 13, marking a significant milestone for Cameroon football.
In attendance was Robert Ndip Tambe, 2017 African Champion, a distinguished guest at the event who was seated alongside other Cameroon and African football Legends. As the always calm and reserved Robert made his way in, one could hear whispers
that’s him! That’s the guy from the AFCON in 2017, the one who exhausted rival defenders”
It is not easy to realise this kind of project. This is prove that Cameroon is going higher and we are happy to witness this beautiful ceremony which shows many more beautiful projects are still to come” he told kick442
The indomitable Lions striker stole the spotlight on the eve of the inauguration by scoring a Haul and delivering an assist in a gala match between former Indomitable lions against Team FECAFOOT, which was part of activities to commemorate the occasion.
WHO IS NDIP TAMBE?
Born on February 22, 1994, Robert Ndip Tambe — the wonder boy from Buea down to Limbe, who defended Cameroon’s flag in Gabon and did not come back Empty handed.
Tambe was most definitely not the loudest name on the team sheet, but is remembered to be that particular player who the dirty work when it mattered most.
At the 2017 AFCON, while Africa and the world watched Aboubakar’s laudable display in the final, Tambe was out there holding up play, winning fouls, giving defenders a hard time and giving everything for 90+ minutes in the green-red-yellow shirt.
He played just five matches during that competition but his work rate and the fact that he was a regular starter ahead of Vincent Aboubakar makes his contributions to the team memorable, confirming he was useful in Hugo Broos’ project.
More than the goals, it was the attitude: humble, hardworking, never backing down, features he carried with him to the various clubs he had spells, having plied his trade in Slovakia, Turkey, Romania, Moldova, China, Kazakhstan. He is yet to officially hang his boot.
Today, the young academician from Njalla Quan SA who travelled abroad for his first professional contract in 2015, stands as aspiration for every kid in the South West region dreaming of wearing that Indomitable Lions shirt because he showed them it is possible. He equally showed them that passion, heart, determination and sacrifice matter as much as skill.
The inauguration was for a building. But the moment belonged to what that building represents: giving players like Ndip Tambe a system to grow in and Cameroon football a new face lift.
