Following the conclusion of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026, His Majesty King Mohammed VI expressed deep appreciation to the Moroccan people for their decisive role in the tournament’s outstanding success.

In a Royal Communiqué, the King praised citizens across the Kingdom for their collective effort, highlighting the unity, hospitality, and civic spirit demonstrated throughout the month-long continental competition. The event, widely acclaimed both in Africa and internationally, marked a historic milestone for Moroccan football and for the country’s global standing.

Special recognition was extended to millions of Moroccan supporters—women, men, and children—whose unwavering and exemplary support propelled the national team to a remarkable achievement: finishing among the world’s top eight national teams. The result, the communiqué noted, reflects years of strategic investment in sports infrastructure and development, as well as the patriotic commitment of talented players from the Moroccan diaspora who proudly chose to represent their homeland.

Beyond sporting success, the tournament showcased Morocco’s broader development progress. According to the communiqué, the Africa Cup of Nations offered a clear measure of the country’s qualitative leap forward—driven by a long-term vision and a uniquely Moroccan development model that places citizens at the heart of national ambitions.

While the final match against Senegal was unfortunately marred by regrettable incidents in its closing moments, the Royal statement emphasized that such episodes cannot overshadow the deeper meaning of the event. Once emotions subside, the communiqué affirmed, Africa’s enduring spirit of fraternity will prevail. Morocco expressed pride in having delivered a month of popular celebration and sporting passion, contributing to the growth and international visibility of African football.

Addressing criticism and attempts at discreditation, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed his confidence in the Moroccan people’s wisdom and restraint. The communiqué underscored that no hostile intentions can undermine the historic bonds between African nations, nor the strong partnerships Morocco continues to build across the continent.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Morocco’s identity as a committed African nation—faithful to the values of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual respect. Guided by the King’s vision, Morocco will continue to work toward a united and prosperous Africa, sharing its experience, expertise, and know-how in the service of collective progress.
