Diables Noirs of Congo Republic have pulled a major upset this Wednesday afternoon as they held Lekie Filles FC to a disappointing goalless draw at the Stade de Martyrs in Kinshasa.

Lekie Filles FC have failed to replicate their five-star form of match day one in the ongoing 2023/24 Union of Central African Football Federation (UNIFFAC) four-club tournament organised to determine the Regional champions and ambassadors in the continental competition.

Stephane Ndzana’s team came on stock against an inspired Madieta Racia Juvaine Jodel Malagie, who was making her first appearance in the competition after watching her colleague leak in seven goals against Mazembe in the first game.

Tiwa Lys Melong, Ernestine Heutchou and co all failed to beat the keeper in an afternoon of masterclass defensive and goalkeeping display.

Though Lekie gave their best in the afternoon but it was characterized by misses and saves on a day to forget.

The draw gives Diables Noirs girls a first point in the competition and takes Lekie’s tally to four points from two games apiece. Lekie are currently atop the competition before the start of TP Mazembe Ladies versus Atletico Malabo. The Lubumbashi girls are hoping to make it two wins in two while their opponents seek their first point.

The results leaves debutants Lekie Filles in a position they must beat Lamia Boumehdi’s girls to have chances of emerging champions.

The zonal champions will travel to Egypt for the continental finals which will be some sort of battle between the best.

The best a Cameroonian club achieved was Mogai Mogai, Michelle Moumazim and co of Awa Filles FC reaching the final against Mazembe in 2022.
