Egyptian Referee Al Sayd sends off unprofessional ball boy

One of the ball recovery balls for Sunday’s match day five Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Benjamin Mpaka stadium in Dar Es Salaam was sent off late in the second segment after Egyptian Referee Al Sayd adjudged him of deliberately disrupting the game.

The Referee took the unpopular decision at the 90th minute after the ball boy threw the ball into the pitch in an attempt to break a Niger promising attack.

The incident had previously occurred in the course of the game, but in the final minute of regulation time the Referee sent off the boy.

The game finished one-nil in favour of Tanzania, courtesy of a goal 69th minute strike from Simon Msuva.

The 1-0 win ends helps Tanzania to a second win in the qualifiers and takes them up to the third in Group F.

However, the talking point was the dismissal of the ball boy which we understand was included in the match officials report.
