Reigning Cameroon champions Cotonsport of Garoua have been named club of the year during a solemn performance celebration ceremony at the Palais de Congres in Yaoundé.

The North region outfit picked the 2023 award during the annual ceremony in the presence of the first lady this December 16 ahead of the other contenders.

It is the second season running that the president Fernand Sadou guided project triumphs at this event.

Coton has set very high standards in terms of its operational and strategic activities, thus explaining it’s standout returns.

The Cotonites achieved their 18th domestic title during the period under consideration and reached the group stage of the CAF Champions League among others.

The coronation of Cotonsport this Saturday highlights how far the project which started in 1986 has come.

Cotonsport remains a reference to many clubs across the country and on the continent at least going by what they have achieved in their short time in the top-flight championship.

In a related development, Lekie Filles was voted the best women’s top-flight championship outfit. The reigning Guinness Super League champions won the domestic championship last term and earned the right to represent Cameroon at next year’s UNIFFAC women’s CAF Champions League preliminaries.
