CHAN 2022: Mozambique are earliest birds in Algeria

Mozambique’s is the first team to arrive Algeria for the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship, CHAN 2022 finals, set to kick off on 13 January 2022.

The local mambas left Maputo on Thursday afternoon after over a month in camp.

The team touched down in Algiers this Friday, completed protocols foreign visitors before moving to their base.

They return to the tournament for the first time since it’s debut in 2014 and hope to do better than the group stage exit back then.

Mozambique are in Group A of the competition alongside host Algeria, 2014 champions Lybia and Ethiopia.

The local mambas open their competition on January 14 against Ethiopia before facing Lybia and Algeria later.

The sixth edition of the CHAN will get underway on January 13 and run till February 4 across four major cities in Algeria.

The build up to the tournament has been hit by some controversial stories including a boycott plan from team Cameroon but kick442.com can authoritatively confirm all 18 nations will be in Algeria to participate in the event CAF boss Dr Patrice Motsepe has revealed he wants to be the best of all time.
