asablanca, the Moroccan Football loving city, is filled with excitement just a few hours before the second-leg of the 2022-2023 Champions League Final, which will pit local rivals Wydad Athletic Club against Al Ahly of Cairo this Sunday June 11th.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca from 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT) and is the second leg of the 2022-2023 Champions League final, the first of which, played last Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium, saw Al Ahly beat Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca 2-1.

For the return leg, the city of Casablanca is at the heart of all fans of both clubs. The city is already decked out in the colours of Wydad Athletic Club, and fans are filling shops for shirts and accessories to equip themselves to cheer on WAC at the stadium. As for match tickets, the 45,000 tickets on sale online were snapped up in record time. Only the lucky fans were able to get their hands on the precious sesame to attend this dream match.

The enthusiasm and fervour of the Moroccan club’s fans can be felt on every street corner. Here and there, people dance to the rhythm of the drums, trumpets and vuvuzela of the Wydad fans. The atmosphere is simply festive, as the Moroccans know they still have a chance of getting the better of Egypt’s Al Ahly.

For the moment, most Moroccans are busy supporting WAC by showing their patriotism and their attachment to their club. What is certain is that the match, which is a rematch of last year’s final, promises to be a hotly contested affair, with the fervour and enthusiasm of Wydad Athletic Club fans in Casablanca and the manifestation of the unmatched Moroccan passion for football which flows from his Majesty King Mohammed VI through to all nationals.
