  • Canon played a goalless draw for the second time this season
  • Union on their part settled for a third draw in five games so far

MTN Elite One clubs Canon Yaoundé and Union Sportive of Douala played out a dull goalless draw on Sunday at the Olembe Annex stadium in the late kick-off counting for match day five of the 2023/24 Cameroon top-flight championship.

The Kpakum as Canon is fondly known failed to respond to the defeat against Astre last time out while Union were flat in attack for the second game running, leaving fans of both sides dissatisfied with the goalless spectacle.

Paul Henri Tchikeu and co of Canon Yaoundé missed a number of chances in the afternoon coach Vincent Atangana’s Canon Yaounde looked far from their best.

Union Sportive of Douala slowed down in the closing moments of the game and played for a draw which they eventually got despite the efforts from their hosts.

The draw is Union’s third in five MTN Elite One championship games this season. They have won one and lost the other while Canon picked up their second draw in addition to wins and a defeat this season.

Union Sportive of Douala hosts PWD of Bamenda in their next outing on November 5 while Canon welcomes Dynamo of Douala on match day six.
